Thursar Race

One of the nine available playable races in Mortal Online is The Thursar. These half-Orcs are conceived in war, born into a society that does not want them, and live as outcasts. Orcs look on these half-breeds as weak while humans regard the Thursar as barbaric and dangerous. As a result, the Thursar are welcome in very few places.

The Thursar are, on average, taller than humans, and take their distinct musculature, body markings, and bestial eyes from their orc forbearers. This makes it impossible for a Thursar to pass as anything other than what they are. They can see well in faint light and have a good sense of hearing. These physical gifts make them suited to hard labor and mercenary work. Though they are just as clever as humans, the Thursar share the orcish distaste for the arcane and they rarely excel at magic, though a few do master shamanistic arts.

Though the Thursar are tolerated in larger human societies, they are looked down upon with fear and suspicion. Because of this, many types of honest employment are unavailable to them and they mostly work in menial, physical positions that humans don't want to do, such as shifting cargo, working in the sewers, or mining. Because they are an important part of the labor force, larger human settlements, like Obrig and Tindrem host smaller Thursar villages on their outskirts.

Though their physical gifts and stoic attitude make them suited for physical labor, some Thursar prefer to earn a living fighting, either in the arena or as a mercenary. Earning fame fighting for the crowds or earning gold fighting with a mercenary troop are two of the very few places a Thursar can rise in rank.
